Teckning, Classic drawing for beginners 2, weekend

Information

"Classic Drawing for Beginners 2" is the continuation of the first course. In this course, we will practice the same principles covered in the first one, adding some variation to the content. For those who are more daring, the course leader will provide prints of classical sculptures, just as we do in art academies. The goal of this is to gradually move away from the copying method used in the first course (transparent acetate and markers) and learn to make measurements by eye, in the classical way.
Of course, this course is also for those who want to continue practicing the basics with simpler drawings, so they can strengthen their understanding of drawing principles while receiving individual guidance from the instructor.

The course is 7-8 Mars.

Who is it for?

For those who already have some experience.

Objectives

To observe reality and interpret it on paper using pencils and compressed charcoal, learning to represent reality through realistic drawing by
visualizing the basic forms of objects, establishing their relationship and scale on paper, and depicting light and shadow to understand their depth and volume.

Content

In this course, we will work mainly with objects and still lifes in order to better understand the fundamentals of drawing. (Other topics that the
student wishes to study individually may be proposed, as recommended by the instructor based on the student’s drawing abilities).

We will make use of simple techniques, such as pencil and compressed charcoal, in order to establish the foundations of drawing (sketching,
proportion, and the representation of light and shadow) without the complication of color or other, more complex drawing techniques such as watercolor, for example.

STRUCTURE

1. Instructor and course introduction
2. Presentation of drawing materials and their uses
3. Learning to observe the shapes of objects (Sketching)
4. Proportion
5. Light and shadow (chiaroscuro)

Material

You will get a list before the course starts but you need:
1. Drawing bloc (90-120 g).
2. Some pencils (B2, B6 at least).
3. Regular eraser for drawing

The course leader

My name is Adrian, and I studied Fine Arts at the Universities of Granada and Valencia (UGR/UPV, 2020), two of the most prestigious in Spain. I was born in Málaga, the city of Picasso, but then I moved to Sweden in 2022. Currently I’m living in Varberg where I’ve been working and teaching at Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan in Varberg for 2 year with very good feedbacks.

My classes are in English, as my Swedish is not yet very fluent. The advantage of teaching in English is that my classes are open to people from
many different countries and cultures, which greatly enriches the learning experience.

Durying my stay in Spain I have been teaching drawing as a freelancer for three years, working with teenagers and participating in various painting and photography projects throughout my career.

All of this has given me the tools to offer these courses at SV, which are increasingly attracting people interested in learning classic drawing all over the world and different cities of Sweden.
