Democracy on the Streets
A conversation on the protests of 2026
A street on the other side of the world is still part of our world, what happens there reaches all of us.
People have taken to the streets in many parts of the world. Some are angry, some hopeful, some afraid. We follow these events on our screens, but we are not outside observers. Behind the images and headlines are real people, real places and real questions: What are people asking for? What does democracy mean when so many people feel they have to go out and claim it? Are mobilizations a sign that democracy is failing, or a way of keeping it alive?
Join us for an afternoon of stories and conversation. Short presentations from people in different countries will introduce the mobilizations in their own countries: what happened, what it felt like, and what came after. Then we’ll talk together about what we have seen and heard and try to make sense of what is happening in the world.
Who is this for?
Anyone interested in politics and in the world we share. You don't have to agree with each other, only be curious and willing to listen and think together.
This is not a lecture. Everyone is welcome to speak, ask questions and share what they think.
We offer coffee.
