The Public Weaving Manifestation

Älmhult is a place where many paths cross. We invite you to step out of your ‘bubble’ and join us at SV to turn individual threads into a collective social fabric.  
This is more than a craft event; it is a public ritual of belonging. Using the wefts created by our community in our previous workshops, we will work together on a large-scale loom. As we interlace the threads, we are not only weaving and touching the textiles but also physically building connections within our community, from ‘me’ to ‘we’!
In this space and time, you can feel at home in Älmhult by creating together! Whether you stay for five minutes or two hours, your touch becomes part of the social fabric.
Let's experience together what handcrafts and materials like weaving can contribute to us and our society!  
No experience needed, everyone is welcome.

About the Facilitator

Semra Gür Üstüner is an artist and designer whose entire academic and professional career has been dedicated to textile. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s in Innovation through Business, Engineering and Design at Linnaeus University, where she explores how material engagement and craft can bridge diverse communities to strengthen the social fabric of Älmhult.
This workshop series are part of a Master’s thesis project within the programme Innovation through Business, Engineering and Design-specialisation Design at Linnaeus University.
